The Ontario Ministry of Transportation is proposing a change to the licensing rule in regards to RVs.  Currently if your trailer is more then 4600 kg you require a Class A license or Class A restricted.  Ontario is proposing the following:

“The Ministry of Transportation is proposing that drivers would be allowed to tow a recreational vehicle (RV) that exceeds 4,600 kg gross weight on a full-G Class driver’s licence. The existing combined gross weight limit of 11,000 kg would remain the same. The current licensing requirement for operating such a vehicle combination is Class A.”

They do further specify that this applies only to fifth wheel RV’s.

It’s nice to see the MTO is starting to address modern RV’s as regulations often do overlap with commercial only regulations which obviously leads to confusion.

I encourage everyone to post their own comments on this proposal.
