New FMCSA scam targeting your SAFER login

Yet another new scam has popped up posing as the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Association (FMCSA). This new scam (pictured below) definitely relies on pressuring the receiver by putting a time crunch on responding to the FMCSA SAFER System. They request that you login to your portal using the link they provide.

If you don’t respond, they threaten that you will be marked as not authorized.

This is not the only SAFER scam out there. There is another very similar one featured on the FMCSA’s fraud alert webpage. Be sure to check it out HERE.

What to do when you receive a scam email

Remember- check the from address- in this case the email ends as .pro. This is not an suffix the FMCSA uses. If you hover over the link, you will see that the link also leads to a website ending in .pro which is also not correct. The FMCSA SAFER site ends in .dot.gov. If you are ever unsure, don’t use a link in the email, instead open your web browser and type in the address of the site you want to visit.

Visit the FMCSA’s Fraud Alert website to keep abreast of other scams that others have reported so you can keep an eye out if they happen to hit your inbox. As mentioned, they keep a running list of scams with examples that have been submitted to them.
