A new phishing scam is making the rounds.
Another scam email impersonating the FMCSA is making the rounds again. This email originates from a admin@fmcsadministration.com address. In the email they ask for Certificate of Insurance, EIN Verification letter, Certificate of Organization, and copies of your driver’s license front and back.
They then cite 49 CFR 385.337(b) to imply legitimacy and threaten fines and penalties to goad receivers to act without checking facts.
Here is an image of what the email looks like:

Things to check:
- The email address- the address is off as it is @fmcsadminstration- it’s missing an “a” as the two words FMCSA and administration are blended together, sharing the “a”.
- Hover over links and check their URL’s. Do they seem correct? Don’t click on any that seem suspicious.
- Visit the FMCSA’s Fraud Alert site to see if there have been any reports of scam emails.
- Reach out to the FMCSA to confirm authenticity, or report to your local police authority
These can be hard to spot- but when you receive emails looking for a lot of your information that can lead to identity theft, be doubly wary. Make sure they are legitimate before responding or clicking on any links. It’s a lot easier to make a quick phone call to confirm than it is to file a police report regarding identity theft.
Let’s try and shut it down at the start!
