Do Canadians have to use the National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners?

The simple answer is no, Canadian based drivers and companies do not have to use doctors who are registered with the  National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners.   Currently there is no provision for the registration of doctors outside of the United States.

The National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners  is a list of certified healthcare professionals who do medical exams on commercial motor vehicle drivers (truck and bus drivers). These healthcare professionals help save lives by reducing the risk for crashes, injuries, and fatalities on our nation’s roadways.

Eligible healthcare professionals include Medical Doctors, Chiropractors, Nurse Practitioners, Physician’s Assistants, and Doctors of Osteopathy.
