eManifests save time

Every trucker that’s ever crossed the border knows how much of a hassle clearing customs can be. Fortunately, the governments of the United States and Canada have created a way to submit cargo manifests electronically before arrival at customs. These eManifests significantly reduce the time that a carrier has to wait to get clearance to cross the border, saving both time and money for everyone involved.

eManifests not only save time, but they are also now required for all shipments entering the United States or Canada. Failure to comply can result in fines ranging from $2,000 – $10,000.

Who is required to file an eManifest?

Typically the carrier must submit an eManifest at least one hour before arrival at the border for shipments entering the United States or Canada.

What about unladen vehicles?

Carriers are required to file an eManifest for unladen vehicles entering the United States and Canada at least one hour before arrival at the border.

Peter Suess Transportation Consultant Inc offers two services to make you compliant with eManifests
